"This is inspired by the paintings of the radical Scottish sisters in the late 19th century, Margaret and Frances McDonald. They challenged the Victorian art nouveau depiction of women as objects of purity and beauty. Their images were unapologetic statements of the emerging, "new woman." No longer submissive, they broke free from the rigid Victorian past and presented a wiser independent, newly imagined, mystical woman."

Pattern is stitched on 32 ct White chocolate linen using DMC floss with Caron Waterlilies, Mill Hill beads and Kreinik braids. Stitch count is 147 x 207. Stitched area is 9.19" x 12.94".

Alternate fabric is 16 ct White Chocolate Aida. Bead pack (MD191E) available! Mill Hill Magnifica 10107 (if ordered separate from bead pack) temporarily discontinued - Wichelt suggests 62049 or 00167 as a substitute.
