Esther’s beautiful work has enchanted Nicola from her first glimpse of the sampler. The original sampler was worked in wool on approximately 24ct Penelope canvas. Esther had a wonderful eye for colour, her chosen palette included pink, mauve, apricot, raspberry, salmon, garnet, and coral. A delicious combination that makes the fingers itch to stitch.
The design is suitable for needleworkers of all abilities. The stitches used are cross stitch over 2 threads and satin stitches.
Esther’s sampler has been stitched with a particularly beautiful palette of thirteen colours from Au Ver à Soie’s range of Soie 100.3. We have provided conversions for Soie d’Alger and DMC.
The design area is 182 stitches (w) x 280 stitches (h). HATS calculations have included a 3″ margin for finishing and framing. The model was stitched using 56ct Zweigart-based linen that was overdyed to the shade “Old Sheep” by xJudeDesigns. We recommend that you should use a count and fabric that you enjoy working with.
