More Information

Note from the designer: A quick look at the original samplers and we can be quite certain Isabella and M. were sisters and may very well have stitched these together. Both marked them with their village of Eddleston(e) in Scotland, but most of all, they are so very similar in many ways - color, pattern, layout, stitches, etc.

Isabella's is the larger, more complex sampler and we might assume she was the older sister. She stitched on higher count linen and added more specialty stitches (eyelets, rice, 4-sided, and backstitching); the model is stitched using over-dye cottons. M' includes fewer of all of these on a larger count fabric; I used silks here. DMC options are included to assist with floss selections. Each sampler is full of color and interesting patterns - and I'm thrilled to share them with you.

Isabella was stitched on 40 Ct Espresso linen from R&R Reproductions with Classic Colorworks and Weeks Dye Works floss. Stitch Count: 176x286 M Russel was stitched on 32 Ct. Parchment linen from Weeks Dye Works with Classic Colorworks Belle Soie and Gloriana Silk floss. Stitch Count: 122x236. Finished size is 8.8 in wide X 14.3 in high for Isabella and 7.63 in wide X 14.75 in high."
